Rebecca + Peter // Island House Winter Wedding

Rebecca and Peter’s wedding came sooner than expected for them. Originally planned for September 21, 2019 at the Island House, they quickly had to book a date sooner due to deployment orders Peter received over the summer. Honestly I’m SO glad it happened sooner…I enjoyed my time with them so much during their engagement session and couldn’t wait to see them again. They are two of the most down to earth people I’ve crossed paths with and I feel so lucky to have been chosen to document their wedding day!

When Becca and I first met in person, she told me how much she enjoyed being on the water and loved sitting on her families dock on Johns Island. It then dawned on me that I thought we were related, and SURE enough somewhere down the Hay, Dawson, Clement/Jenkins line we ARE RELATED. Still not exactly sure, even though my father has explained it to me numerous time…haha! Fast forward to their wedding, I got to see some of my cousins I don’t get to see very often, as well as her grandmother who I just adored when I was little!

Back to their wedding…what can I say? It was a true southern wedding with Becca’s aunts and Peter’s mom being in charge of the decor, including the florals! They were surrounded by so much love throughout the whole day and the skies even put on a spectacular sun set for them at the end of the day!

Two personal touches had me teary eyed behind my cameras that day. Becca’s father passed away when she was young and during that time a family member gifted her a silver bracelet with her father’s initials on one side and her initials on the other. She has never taken the bracelet off…until her wedding day. She wanted it photographed with her father’s bible, which was used during the ceremony. The officiant read several scriptures from her father’s bible…such a touching memory I know will not be forgotten each time they celebrate their anniversary!

I hope you enjoy some of my favorites from their wedding day! Oh and that tiger which makes an appearance in the groom + groomsman pictures is must see. Peter is a Clemson grad and this tiger statue has become a VERY important tradition of he and his friends. They carry with them to every game (if only I could remember it’s name)!
